I hope this email finds you well. Below please find a brief story I believe will inspire you.
I had the pleasure of meeting a remarkable woman named Nadiia Churkina, a loving mother from Ukraine who has a burning desire to learn English. Nadiia’s story is one of resilience, determination, and unwavering dedication to improve her life and the life of her children who started with the Adult New Reader program on March 16, 2023.
Nadiia has always dreamt of reading to her child in English, but due to limited resources and opportunities, she was unable to pursue her dream until now. With a deep sense of responsibility and a commitment to providing a better future for her family, she has embarked on a remarkable journey to learn the English language.
I am thrilled to share that Bravo Hariston, our first AmeriCorps member, is tutoring her at her child learning center. Bravo’s commitment to empowering individuals like Nadiia to achieve their dreams, has been assisting her in reading books from the Warren County Imagination Library collection. This program has been a valuable resource in helping Nadiia improve her English reading skills. Bravo's guidance and support have proven invaluable in selecting appropriate books, exploring their content together, and fostering a love for reading in Nadiia and her child.
Nadiia’s journey to learn English is even more remarkable considering the numerous challenges she faces. Her husband is still in Ukraine, and she is taking the responsibility of raising their children and pursuing her dreams. Nadiia has shown incredible perseverance. She understands that learning English will open doors to new opportunities and broaden her horizons. It will not only enhance her ability to communicate effectively but also provide her with access to a wealth of knowledge and resources.
I am thrilled to share that Nadiia has received support from the Warren County Foundation and its partnership with the WCCS, Inc. Adult New Readers program. This program has been instrumental in assisting Nadiia in her English language-learning journey. The collaboration between Nadiia and the program has provided her with additional resources, guidance, and a supportive community to learn and grow.
Thank you for your continued support. Warmest Wishes, Sara
