Warren County Foundation
2023 Impact Grants
Subject to the availability of funds, the Warren County Foundation shall make one or more Impact Grants usually in December of each year, of not less than $10,000 each. The Foundation Grants Committee reviewed 19 proposals and made nine grants totaling $62,500 in 2023. During the first seven years of the program, 36 Impact Grants have been awarded.
- 1N5 – “Building Resiliency in Youth” – $2,500. Created in response to the growing deterioration of mental health in youth, Building Resiliency in Youth is a multi-faceted approach to mental health education and suicide prevention that involves students, teachers, school staff, and parents/caregivers. It educates on the signs, symptoms, action steps, and resources for mental illness and crisis intervention. 1N5 works in 136 regional schools, including Franklin, Kings, and Mason schools in Warren County.
- Beech Acres Parenting Center – “Beyond the Classroom Program in Warren County Schools” – $2,500. The comprehensive, no-cost services offered through Beyond the Classroom enhance readiness to learn through trauma-informed care for children’s behavioral, emotional, and mental health. Embedded within ten partner schools in Warren County, targeted intervention is provided to more than 1,300 students. Supportive wrap-around services are also provided to families.
- Friends of the Twenty Mile House – “Dr. Joseph Warren Statue” – $10,000. The friends of the Twenty Mile House continue to focus on local history, shining a light on important historical events and sites in Warren County. Their most ambitious project to date is a full-body, life-sized bronze statue of Dr. Joseph Warren, the namesake for Warren County. The designed and cast statue will be placed on an elevated base, inside the South Broadway Street sidewalk, in the lawn between the Harmon Museum and the Lebanon Public Library.
- Joy Outdoor Education Center (Camp Joy) – “2024 Underserved Youth Camp Programming” – $10,000. Children from low-income families face economic obstacles that often deprive them of access to structured, educational camp experiences and opportunities to explore nature, develop environmental stewardship, and cultivate a deeper connection with the outdoors. Camp Joy anticipates serving over 200 underserved campers and students age 5-17 from partnering schools and children’s advocacy agencies within Warren County. One Impact Grant will enable 21 deserving students to participate in camps throughout the year.
- LEAD Training – “High School Workforce Initiative” – $2,500. LEAD Training is a 501(c)(3) non-profit that develops and delivers career readiness, life skills, and social-emotional learning programs for grades 3 through 12 in Greater Cincinnati. Our organization is impacting the lives of 700 youth in Warren County. In LEAD Training experience, the annual cost for providing a high school student with the tools to create a solid pathway toward a successful career after graduation is an average of $600.
- Magnified Giving – “Warren County Philanthropy Education Program” – $10,000. Magnified Giving currently operates programs in 8 schools and youth-based centers in Warren County. With a track record of success, and a curriculum based on youth using their talents, their voice, and their time to serve those in need in the community. We help middle and high school students and youth realize their ability to make their communities better. After choosing a social cause, they identify nonprofits that serve that cause. They learn about and serve at the chosen agency, and then make a prudent decision on which agency will receive a grant of $1,000.
- Ohio Living Communities dba Ohio Living Quaker Heights “Transforming Memory Care” – $10,000. Ohio Living started a new initiative to create Memory Care Centers of Excellence throughout Ohio Living’s life plan communities. Developing Ohio Living Quaker Heights as a Memory Care Center of Excellence will transform memory care. Staff training by Hearthstone Institute will result in an evolutionary experience that meets residents with memory/dementia issues where they are in their journey.
- Safe Families for Children Dayton – “Keeping Families Together and Children Safe in the Dayton, Ohio Area” – $5,000. Many families are in crisis which impacts at-risk children. Safe Families is volunteer driven and responsible for local funding. Staff provides training, background checks, and is responsible for due diligence in completing regular home visits and communicating with host families. We receive referrals from a number of sources with referrals increasing in Warren County
- Warren County Community Services, Inc. – “Empowering Non-Reading Parents to Support their Children’s Reading Journey” – $10,000. Warren County Imagination Library has been a fantastic journey, making sure that young children have access to free books and fostering a love for reading within the family. While we have made great strides, we recognize that not every parent feels equipped to read to their child. We are seeking funding to promote Adult New Readers, boosting WCIL enrollment, and enhancing Parent Packets for a Literacy Journey.
Discretionary GrantsThe Warren County Foundation currently tends to make Discretionary Grants in amounts ranging from a few hundred dollars to a few thousand dollars. Proposals are reviewed every two months by the Grants Committee. Because Discretionary Grant funds are limited each year, the Grants Committee reviews each proposal carefully and considers the criteria below.

The Grants Committee, in its discretion, may waive any of the foregoing criteria upon the applicant’s demonstration that hardship, special or exigent circumstances or other good cause justify such a waiver. The Foundation will always confirm that an organization is eligible for a grant as a 501(c)3 organization.
Impact Grants

In addition to the criteria for Discretionary Grants, Impact Grant recipients will be selected based upon a consideration of which submittals most effectively promote the following: lasting improvement in the health, safety and welfare within Warren County; elimination or mitigation of barriers to the full enjoyment of social, cultural, economic and educational resources within the community. The grant must have a meaningful impact on the organization or program.
Priority in the selection of Impact Grant recipients will be given to submittals benefiting and promoting the well-being of families and children, or economic development in the County. Collaborations of various organizations and agencies will receive preference in the review process.
