The Warren County Foundation Grant funded the highlight of LHS Outdoor Adventure Club's 2016-2017 school year – transportation, food, and activities for the weekend camping trip to Red River Gorge, Kentucky. Students were able to camp, hike, rock climb, bond with each other, and enjoy nature. Contact |
Mission StatementThe goals of the club are to provide and promote student interest in outdoor, adventure-type activities. In addition, the club will encourage the practice of limited impact outdoor ethics through club meetings, activities, and service. We hope to continue this club every year. Many studies have shown that getting youth engaged in outdoor activities builds physical fitness, lowers stress levels, and improves cognitive capabilities. As Teddy Roosevelt stated, “The lack of power to take joy in outdoor nature is as real a misfortune as the lack of power to take joy in books.”
